High school athletic clubs in Tunis recorded a 28 percent rise in registered members between September 2025 and June 2026, with 1,240 new participants signing up across four districts.

The increase comes as schools reopen after the summer break and families seek structured activities that keep teenagers engaged while strengthening ties among parents and coaches in the same streets.

Coaches at the Lycée Sadiki on Rue de la Kasbah now run evening training sessions three times a week that include students from nearby homes in the Medina. At the same time the Association Sportive du Bardo, based near Avenue Habib Bourguiba, added a Saturday morning relay program that draws runners from Le Bardo and Mutuelleville.

Training schedules and shared facilities

Both groups share the running track inside Parc du Belvédère on weekday afternoons, cutting costs for each club to 45 dinars per athlete per month. The shared schedule lets parents from different neighbourhoods meet at the gate after sessions, and several families have started informal car pools along the route from La Marsa to the park.

Club records show that 62 percent of this year’s new members live within two kilometres of their training site, a figure that has doubled since the same period in 2023. The Association Sportive du Bardo also reported that its annual community meet on 15 May drew 380 spectators, up from 210 the previous year.

Parents who want to register a student can visit either the Lycée Sadiki office on weekday mornings or the Association Sportive du Bardo clubhouse after 5 p.m. Both locations accept applications through the end of July for the autumn season.
